What Notary.mu is

Notary.mu is a legal-and-compliance operations platform for Mauritius. It prepares, verifies and manages regulated legal, property and compliance matters — notarial and conveyancing work, AML/KYC screening, official-document retrieval, private agreements such as rentals, and land and vehicle records — and connects you with the professionals who complete them, the way an ERP runs a business or a practice-management system runs a clinic.

It is operated by Atlentra Ltd (Business Registration Number C23196770, Port-Louis, Mauritius), under a technology and intellectual-property licence from AI Telemetrics Ltd (registered in England and Wales, company number operator to complete), which owns the platform technology, and it provides participating professionals with workspace, verification and coordination tools.

What Notary.mu is not

  • Not a notary and not a law firm. The platform gives no legal advice. Every deed is reviewed, vetted, completed and executed by an independent notary who remains solely responsible for the instrument. Nothing on the platform creates, executes, registers or validates a deed by itself.
  • Not a public authority. Civil-status certificates are issued exclusively by the Civil Status Division; registration is performed by the Registrar-General; changes of name are authorised by the Attorney-General. The platform assists with and tracks applications; it never issues, simulates or substitutes an official act, and it never requests government credentials (including MauPass passwords).
  • Not a credit bureau or rating agency. The platform’s credit-file infrastructure operates on borrower consent with full subject access. No credit rating or score is issued unless and until the required Bank of Mauritius authorisation is held; the software refuses to emit one without an authorisation reference.
  • Not a lender, broker or financial adviser. Lender listings are informational participation records — never a comparison, ranking, recommendation or credit advice. Lending decisions and each institution’s regulatory obligations remain entirely with the institution.
  • Not a payment institution. Payments are processed by an authorised payment gateway; the platform never holds client funds and never simulates a successful payment.
  • Not a source of conclusions about people. Screening produces structured findings for professional review — never a declaration that a person is “cleared”, “safe” or “guilty”. Identity continuity across name changes is confirmed only by a notary’s recorded professional act.

Fees

Notarial fees for tariffed acts follow the statutory scale regardless of any figure shown on the platform; official duties and government charges are always shown separately and never marked up. Platform charges are identified as such.

Complaints and supervision

Complaints about the platform follow the complaints procedure. Complaints about a notary’s professional conduct may also be addressed to the competent professional authorities in Mauritius.
