Practice custody — Chambre des Notaires

When a notary dies, is incapacitated, retires, is suspended or removed, their minutes and records must be preserved and administered as the law requires. This is the controlled, audited channel for that — access is never opened on request; it is granted only through a custody case, on a stated legal basis, to a designated successor notary or the Chambre as custodian.

How this is bounded. Only the Chambre des Notaires or platform staff can open, authorise, designate a successor for, or close a case. A case cannot be opened without an event and an authority reference (death certificate, court order, Chambre resolution, medical certificate). The platform records that reference; verifying it remains the Chambre’s responsibility. Every access under a grant is logged. The étude wall is otherwise absolute.
